Please explain the outstanding contributions of the nominee during the month of nomination

I am privileged to nominate Emily Ridenour for the November Advisor of the Month. Emily has volunteered to assist many people and gone above and beyond what was required of her in all aspects of her commitments. November could have been an overwhelming month for Emily with handling MACURH, difficult desk staffing situations, and helping others who were overwhelmed; however, Emily showed how tenacious and positive she really is during November.

Emily was a MACURH advisor and put many hours into her position. She met with students and encouraged and guided them throughout the process. She thanked everyone involved from beginning to the end. She fought to make sure people were recognized appropriately with gifts of appreciation such as zoo lollipops for the RAs and inflatable zoo animals for the hall staff members. She made cookies for the Blair Shannon RAs as well.

November was a difficult desk staffing month for Blair Shannon with the long absence of the receptionist for personal reasons and lack of a night host. When a temporary night host was found, she was absent a few times and Emily was woken up late at night to staff the desk. Emily never complained and made sure to be positive and thank desk workers who volunteered to work. She even set up an emergency desk schedule in case the receptionist or night host was absent in order to make the process easier for everyone involved. She modeled enthusiasm and team work and helped everyone through the process.

Emily worked hard to build a team spirit within the desk workers. She had the idea of making desk staff shirts and the desk workers were very excited about the idea. She asked for their ideas and then had them vote on which they liked the best. She also offered to make Thanksgiving dinner for any desk workers who were working over the break.

Emily frequently volunteered to help out other hall staff members during November. She volunteered to do the RA meeting agenda for Teresa when she was busy with multiple tasks. When others were busy, she offered to get the mail from the mail office when it was not her mail day.

In November, Emily demonstrated a balance between all of her activities. She was dedicated to her positions. She also took the time to notice when others were stressed or in need of recognition and made sure they received what they needed. For all these reasons, I believe Emily is an excellent candidate for the Advisor of the Month for November.
