A team of mechanical engineering students at St. Cloud State University are building a formula one race car. These students are responsible for all aspects of the race car including design, fabrication, and tuning. St. Cloud State has had several formula style race cars built over the past decade. Each year, the new team learns from the mistakes and successes of the previous year. This design process serves as a learning tool to give future engineers real world experience.
The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) is an organization that sets the standards which all formula cars must be built. SAE hosts the race in Michigan where the car will compete against 120 cars from different schools around the world. The cars will be judged in a number of static and dynamic events including technical inspection, tilt test, brake test, endurance race, and acceleration test to name a few. Prior to competing in these events, the cars must be qualified by passing a rigorous technical inspection. Some of the events in the technical inspection include the following: an inspection of the frame, a tilt test, and a brake test. The competition will be held on May 9th through the 12th of 2012.

Country Cat started in the fall of 1991. Dave and Mark Wanderscheid (owners) started young in the business. Dave was 20, Mark was 16 with 2 years of high school left. Country Cat started small and the first year we only ordered 14 machines. Today we are one of the largest Arctic Cat dealers in the nation. We also maintain one of the highest C.S.I. (Customer Satisfaction Index) scores Arctic Cat has in the nation. We contribute this to being a Arctic Cat only store not carrying competitive brands to concentrate on being the best at what we do.
