Saint Cloud State University
Winter Wrap-Up High School Speech
Tournament
February 28, 2009
Dear Area Speech Coaches:
On behalf of Saint Cloud State
University Forensics, and the MN Omicron Chapter of Pi Kappa Delta, and the SCSU
Department of Communication Studies, I would like to invite you and your
students to the SCSU campus on Saturday, February 28, to attend the 2009 Winter
Wrap-Up High School Speech Tournament.
The St. Cloud State University Speech & Debate program looks forward
to hosting you and your team on our campus.
The format of the
tournament will be three rounds and a final in all MSHSL speech events. Schools are limited to six entries per
event. Double entries will be allowed. All finalists will receive awards. In addition, the top junior high/novice
competitor in each event will be recognized.
For this recognition the student must either be (1) a junior high school
student (below 9th grade) or (2) a senior high school student in his
or her first year of competition. Team
Sweepstakes awards will be given to the top three teams in both large and small
entry divisions.
We will also once again be awarding the
Winter Wrap-Up Coach’s Award. This is an
opportunity for the high school community to reward a coach who exemplifies
leadership and dedication to forensics beyond competitive success. The recipient last year was Scott Fodness from Alexandria High
School. Please fill out the form
included in the entry materials. The
winner will be selected from among the entries but will be confined to coaches
with students at the tournament.
The deadline for entries is Tuesday,
February 24, 2009. The enclosed
information should answer most of the questions you may have about the
tournament. If you have any other
questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. See you toward the end of February!
Sincerely,
Scott Wells Denee
