Halloween weekend treats Huskies with a split.

Fargo, North Dakota –  The Huskies traveled north to take on the Bison of North Dakota State University over Halloween weekend and earned a split with the Division 1 ACHA foe.  On Friday night “Halloween”, the Huskies came out flat and fell by a score of 8-3.  On Saturday night the Huskies bounced back from a lackluster performance the night before and earned a dramatic 4-3 victory.  The Huskies scored 2 unanswered goals with under 8 minutes left in the 3rd period to seal the victory.  Freshman forward Cole Hawkins notched his first goal of his collegiate career, which proved to be the game winner.  The Huskies will travel to Wisconsin-Platteville to take on the undefeated Pioneers November 7/8, both games will be played at 7:30 PM.  The Huskies feel confident heading into this weekends series.  “We’ve had a much tougher schedule then what our opponent has faced,” said Sophomore defensemen Tony Behl.  “On paper there is no reason why we shouldn’t pick up a sweep this weekend, they may be undefeated, but our schedule speaks for itself,” added Behl.  The Huskies have dropped games to highly ranked D2 opponents including University of Iowa GOLD, DePaul University, and ACHA D1 power Minot State University.  Victories this weekend will help build confidence heading into conference play.

Huskies win 2 of 3 in the 1st Annual Hawkeye Showcase Tournament.

Iowa City, Iowa – The Huskies capture 2nd place in the First Annual Hawkeye Showcase Tournament.  The Huskies opened up the tournament by defeating University of Nebraska 7 -1.  The Huskies drew first blood, when Junior forward Danny Heinzman scored at 18:33 of the 1st period and the Huskies didn’t look back as they took a 3-1 lead after the first stanza enroute to a 7-1 victory.  On Saturday the Huskies battled the host University of Iowa Gold Hawkeyes and were defeated 5-2.   Once again, the Huskies drew first blood on a goal by Heinzman at the 7:47 mark of the first period and took a 1-0 lead into the lockeroom after a period of play.  The battled tested Hawkeyes came storming back in the 2nd and never looked back enroute to victory.  On Sunday, the Huskies responded from a tough loss the night before by defeating University of Northern Iowa 6-3, claiming 2nd place in a penalty stricken game.  The Huskies will be back at home this weekend as they battle D1 ACHA power Minot State University at The National Hockey Center. Please see schedule page for additional details.

Recruiting Information

The SCSU Men's Club Hockey team is always looking for hard working and dedicated players for the 2008-2009 Season.

Try-outs will be conducted at the beginning of fall and spring semester.  There is a one time $10.00 non-refundable try-out fee.  For players who make the team the fee will be applied to their team dues. Try-outs require full equipment and full face mask. The try-outs will be conducted for 20 players and 3 goalies and no players from last years team are guaranteed a position.

Players who make the team are expected to furnish themselves with black pants, helmet and coordinating gloves before the first game.   Players are supplied with socks and three sets of jerseys; one home, away, and practice.

We ask all players who are interested in trying out to fill out our recruitment form (will be available shortly). This gives the coaching staff an idea of the number of players who will be trying out each semester.

Always Remembered (1981-2003)

Carla

Sadly, on Sept 19, 2003 the Men's Club Team lost a very special person in our lives. As one of the founders and backbone of our inaugural season, she gave so much for the good of the team; she will always be remembered.
