The St. Cloud State University Chapter of the National Weather Association was officially recognized in 1994 by the national organization. We are recognized as the Epsilon Chapter of the NWA. Prior to forming the club many meteorology students were part of the Earth Sciences Club (1988-1994).
Today the club consists of many members both meteorologists, geologists, and enrollment is open to all on campus who have an interest in the weather and meteorology. Our meetings are held in new "weather lab" in the basement of the Math and Sciences building on the campus of St. Cloud State. Many club meetings actively involve all branches of the Earth Science Department by having yearly "get togethers" and social gatherings.
More recently our club has began to stress the importance of branching out and gathering information about internships to not only help upper classmen but also students who are just beginning in the program. We actively invite speakers from both the private and government branches of meteorology as well as planning visits to both the National Weather Service offices in Minnesota and Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN TV stations.
