Constitution

  • Over the past few weeks SGA has been developing a new constitution led by Constitutional Committee Chair Ryan Birkman. After each Senate meeting we have discussed and deliberated on each section to refine the document to best suit the needs of the student association. On November 8th we held a special meeting of SGA to hash out the details and finalize an appropriate document to bring to the table by the meeting on the 13th. For comparison the two documents have been linked below.

November 11, 2008

Elections will be held November 24th, 25th, and 26th online. The link will be posted on this page when the polls open. For this semester's election we will have 10 college senator positions available as well as referenda items of:

  • A proposed non-binding smoking ban resolution
  • A proposed non-binding request for the drinking age to be changed to 18
  • A resolution expressing displeasure with MNSCU's mandatory scheduling of university start times
  • The approval of a new Student Association Constitution
  • Applications must be in no later than Wednesday the 19th of November at 5pm. Applications are available here or via hard copies in the office.

October 7, 2008

Judicial's first meeting will be held soon (TBD). Our body is fully functional with almost all positions filled. Our major outreach program dubbed the "PR Drop" is aimed at promoting Student Government to the general student population during homecoming week from October 13-17. Many resolutions will be discussed from Campus Affairs and Urban Affairs at the next meeting on October 9th.

Internal elections will be held Thursday at 5pm in the Cascade room of Atwood Memorial Center. Judicial council, college senator, senator at large, fee allocation committee member, and standing committee positions are available.

Student Government Association's 3rd meeting will take place at 5pm in the Cascade Room in Atwood Memorial Center.

The Senate met for the first time to elect representatives via internal elections. Senator, Finance committee member, Fee Allocation committee member, Judicial Council member positions were filled. Many more positions are still available!
