Meeting Minutes January 23, 2002 A scholarship will be given to one of the members in the fall of 2002. It will include $100, a free t-shirt, and membership in the club for one year. It will be awarded based on a GPA of 2.75 or above, club points earned (see below), and a short essay (approx. 1 page). We will be having the dean in to speak on the progression of the wildlife emphasis. This will be February 20, from 12:00-1:00. PLEASE attend this if at all possible as it shows interest in the program and in the wildlife based classes. The room will be announced so please watch the website and we will have signs posted on the bulletin board. Membership dues for this semester are $8. They are due by February 1st. Long sleeve t-shirts are still available for $15. Size XL only. We will be instituting a point system for the allocation of funds to be used for travel to symposiums and meetings and also the award of the scholarship. The allocation of points is as follows: 1 point - attendance at meetings 5 points – Sidestreet, brat sales, etc. 5 points – attendance at brown bag lunches The annual meeting of The Wildlife Society will be in Bismarck, ND in September. Sidestreet is on 1/24 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please signup if you are able to sit in on it. The Minnesota chapter of The Wildlife Society annual meeting is from February 4th through the 6th. Volunteers are needed to help with registration and cleanup duties. Please signup if you can help. Information will be given out as it is received as to the exact times. Elections for board member positions will be held in April. If interested in one of the board seats please see one of the officers to get information on the duties involved. Brown Bag seminars will start in February. We will be having professionals in from various organizations to speak on wildlife jobs, what their organization does, and other topics of interest. Short sleeve t-shirts will be ordered soon and will be available for $10, $12 for tall size. |
